Akrotiri, Chania, has the little settlement of Kounoupidiana. The airport and the port of Souda are both within walking distance of its location in Chania’s northeast. The Technical University of Crete’s facilities are also situated in Kounoupidiana’s surrounding region.
Kounoupidiana near Pithari village, the major residential hub in the area with around 3,500 permanent residents, is surrounded by the coastal hamlet of Kalathas, the touristy Stavros, Kampani, and Horafakia.
Kounoupidiana is located in the southern part of Akrotiri, adjacent to all of the other beaches, including the beach at Stavros, which is further to the north and the bay of Kalathas.
The little town has all the amenities required to support residents and guests, as well as lodging for those who prefer to use Kounoupidiana as their Chania base. Due to the presence of both historic and contemporary structures, it is thought that all the communities in the vicinity of Kounoupidiana are particularly interesting from a residential and architectural standpoint.
One can travel to Arkoudospilio and the Monastery of Gouvernetou from Kounoupidiana.
