The little seaside community of Agios Onoufrios is part of Cape Akrotiri, which is situated 8 kilometers north of Chania and not far from Kounoupidiana. Due to its proximity to Chania, the town is essentially a suburb of that city. It takes its name from a tiny chapel near to the seashore that honors St. Onoufrios on June 12.
Agios Onoufrios’ beach is tranquil and tucked away in a secure bay. It is sandy and poorly structured. The people who live in the surrounding area prefer it the most. Agios Onoufrios is worth visiting for the beautiful scenery, the old-fashioned taverns, and the calm sea.
